Daily Homework
I will send home a homework log to let families members know what will be sent home and when. I ask that families review the homework and check off the log so I know the homework was reviewed. Thanks for your support.
Daily Math: The math homework is a 2-sided math page. I recommend you look at the reteaching side first; it gives examples of how the lesson was taught. The practice side gives students a chance for more independent work. Family members may need to help students read the directions. The math is a review/practice of skills learned in class. When finished, please check your child's work and then please have your child put the homework page back into the homework folder and return the folder to class the following day.
**Remember to look a the daily math magazine which gives examples of what problems we did together and gives families a glimpse of the visual learning bridge (math movie) that students watched to help introduce the math concepts. **
Daily Reading: Reading a book of choice is encouraged every night with your child. On your child's homework log, I will suggest a reading strategy/skill to practice as you read together. We also practice this reading strategy/skill during class too.
If your child logs onto Raz Kids, they can use this time as their recommended 20 minute daily reading.
Spelling: Our weekly spelling list follows a spelling pattern. At the beginning of each week I will send home a spelling list (usually 8 spelling pattern words and 2 high frequency words). I encourage kids to study but will not send home a paper homework assignment. We practice the words daily during our reading/word work block.
